Crossing of America

Virginia Tire & Auto joined with the Spirit of Liberty Foundation in honoring wounded warriors, fallen heroes and their families by hosting a “Crossing of America” rally on August 26, 2011. During the rally, Virginia Tire & Auto presented a $1,000 check to the Foundation in honor of local fallen hero Sgt. Sean Callahan, 23, a former Virginia Tire & Auto employee and Marine killed recently while conducting combat operations in southern Afghanistan. The Crossing of America is a 12,700-mile historic journey across the United States, making an exclusive stop at Virginia Tire & Auto in South Riding, Va. Veterans are driving two limited-edition Spirit of Liberty Jeeps, which are painted red, white and blue and sport Firestone Destination M/T tires manufactured by Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO), a sponsor of the Crossing of America event. Virginia Tire & Auto is an important BATO-affiliated dealer. Five Angel cars also accompanied the two Spirit of Liberty Jeeps at the Virginia Tire & Auto store. Each Angel car carries the names of those who lost their lives in 9/11.
